The 4230mAh battery and 6.2-inch screen on the A3s are massive. While the notch and may not be appealing to many, the massive battery certainly is eye-catching. We will notify you once the phone makes it out, and we will see how it performs against its competitors.

Vivo Y81

Vivo Y81 is a midrange phone with a 19:9 elongated display in HD+ resolution. Inside the minimalistic classy design of this phone lies a MediaTek Helio P22 processor which will be fine for all normal tasks like web browsing, Facebook scrolling, Instagram stalking, and YouTube binging that people do on their phones. However, it isn’t meant for gaming.

The Vivo Y81 has a 13MP camera at the back which will snap good photos in daylight but will struggle at low light as with any other midrange phone. The front camera is 5MP which is slightly low if you are coming from OPPO phones which have very good front cameras. But for occasional snaps in the sun, 5MP should do just fine. The battery is of a great size for a device with a midrange processor and an HD screen and we are confident that it will last you a full day of moderate use. The only downside that we see with this phone is the lack of a fingerprint sensor.

Vivo Y81 Key Specifications

Nubia Smartphones

Nubia is a new smartphone company for Nepal, and it has brought 4 new Nubia phones into Nepal, which may be available to buy in some stores but are yet to be officially launched. The phones available are Nubia M2 lite/ M2 play, Nubia N2, Nubia Z17miniS, and Nubia Z17 mini. Nubia is currently teasing the Nubia Z17miniS focusing on its stellar looks and camera prowess. Though we haven’t tested any of these phones yet, it is pretty apparent that these phones look stunning with their occasional red accents and bold color and design choices. What seems to be oddly missing is the 18:9 aspect ratio, which makes its appearance in only one of the phones- the Z17S. But that is just something about the aesthetics and it doesn’t make a difference in the screen quality.

As the phones haven’t yet been launched, their prices are still unknown. And Nubia hasn’t explicitly stated the exact release date for these phones. But we will keep you updated on their launch dates; keep tuning into TechLekh to know more about Nubia phones in Nepal.

Nokia X6

Though we have seen phones with a notch before, the Nokia X6 might just be the first Nokia phone to feature that. The design is modern, the notch is minimal and the display is large and full HD with great viewing angles. We absolutely like what Nokia has done to the front here. Inside, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor, which is a midrange processor, is paired with a 4/6 GB RAM.  Whichever RAM model you pick, it will be able to handle the most intensive of your multitasking demands.. The midrange chipset can churn through all the app switching and youtube binging quite well and smoothly; you might even get some gaming out of this machine although small lags and stutters will be expected.

Nokia is including powerful camera technology on the Nokia X6. There is a 16Mp+5MP dual primary camera setup on the back which is yet to be tested by us. You will get features such as bokeh effects and optical zoom with the dual cameras. The front camera is a single 16MP shooter. This is a very high pixel count for a front camera and a good news for selfie lovers who will rejoice at the sharp and detailed selfies that this sensor could shoot. Nokia has said that the X6 will be launched around September in 2018 but the pricing is yet to be known. We’ll keep you posted.

Nokia X6 Key Specifications

UMIDIGI Z2 Pro

The UMIDIG Z2 Pro has the internals to match its looks. The gorgeous glass back is interrupted by dual 16 +8 MP cameras on the back with the fingerprint sensor located right beneath them. Even the camera modules look luxuriously round and separated. The front though… If you like the iPhone X, you will like this phone because it looks a lot like the iPhone X. The size and shape of the notch on both the phones are identical. But, before you go and bash UMIDIGI for copying Apple, you’d like to know that they have used this space wisely. The notch at the front houses dual 16 + 8 MP front-facing cameras too.

On the inside, UMIDIGI Z2 Pro contains the Helio P60 processor which is comparable to the Snapdragon 660 from Qualcomm. So, it’s a midrange processor. The performance would be fluid for normal tasks and apps but you won’t be able to play the latest games in the highest settings without any lag or stutter. However, the 6GB of RAM included must help with the multitasking performance. Even flagships from top manufacturers like Samsung still use 4GB RAM. The internal storage is large too. 128GB is enough for most of your photos an average human would click. I said average. The date for the launch of UMIDIGI Z2 Pro hasn’t been disclosed yet. We will notify you on the day it happens.

UMIDIGI Z2 Pro Key Specifications

  • Display: 6.2-inch Full HD+ 19:9 LCD IPS screen

  • OS: Android 8.1 (Oreo)
  • Memory: 128GB ROM, 6GB RAM

  • Battery: 3,650mAh Fast charging 18W,  Fast wireless charging 15W

Xiaomi Mi A2

This phone is great. If this phone is going to come at a price less than 30 grand, trust me you won’t get a phone better than this. Snapdragon 660 is the best one out there as far as it goes for the budget smartphones. And this being backed up with 6GB of RAM is going to give you insane performance. Multitasking to going to be hella smooth. The gaming performance too is going to be great, even though this might experience a few stutters.

The camera is something I liked very much. If the optimization and the camera quality is as good in real life as on paper, you are going to get an insanely good-looking image. We are yet to see the image quality regarding the colors and exposure. Also, with a 20MP front camera, you are going to get great selfies as well.

Xiaomi Mi A2 Key Specifications

  • Display: 5.99-inch LTPS IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen
  • Resolution: 1080×2160 pixels (18:9 Aspect Ratio)
  • Chipset: Qualcomm SDM660 Snapdragon 660
  • CPU: Octa-core (4×2.2 GHz Kryo 260 & 4×1.8 GHz Kryo 260)
  • GPU: Adreno 512
  • OS: Android 8.1 (Oreo) [Android One Certified]
  • Memory: 128GB ROM, 6GB RAM or 64GB ROM, 4GB RAM
  • Primary Camera: Dual:12 MP (f/1.8, 1/2.9″, 1.25µm) + 20 MP (f/1.8, 1/2.8″, 1.0µm)

  • Battery: Non-removable Li-Ion 3010 mAh battery

Xiaomi Mi A2 Price in Nepal (Expected): Rs. 30,000 (4GB)/Rs. 34,000 (6GB)

Pros Cons
The processor is great Customers expect an AMOLED screen at this price point
Great camera setup A bigger battery would have been nice

Sony Xperia XZ2

The Xperia XZ2 is a good flagship smartphone. It comes with the latest Snapdragon 845 chipset, integrated with the best Sony currently has to offer in terms of display and camera. An interesting thing about its display is the Triluminos, Bravia-tech LCD, and BT.2020 HDR color space support. But, it is not the best flagship of 2018.

If I get to choose between a Google Pixel 2XL, S9+, Huawei P20 Pro, and Xperia XZ2 then XZ2 won’t be my choice. The display is better than the previous generation and can compete against the aforementioned flagships. However, it’s design language and the camera capability might falter against the top guns.

XZ2 has a louder and clearer stereo speaker system and comes with some unique camera features;1080p 960fps videos and the HDR BT.2020 videos in 4K and 1080p, at 24fps. However, the camera lacks OIS and its Intelligent Active Steady Shot stabilization is limited to 1080p@30fps videos.

Its an improved flagship phone but it is certainly not the best of 2018!

Sony Xperia XZ2 Key Specifications

  • Chipset: Qualcomm Snapdragon 845

  • Memory: 64GB ROM, 6GB RAM
  • Primary Camera: 19 MP (f/2.0, 25mm, 1/2.3″, 1.22µm), gyro EIS, predictive phase detection and laser autofocus
  • Secondary Camera: 5 MP (f/2.2, 1/5″), gyro EIS, 1080p

Modern design Slippery
Good battery life No headphone jack
1080p 960fps & HDR BR.2020 video in 4k Downgraded selfie camera
Loud stereo speaker Camera lacks OIS
Great performance Slow-Mo is not that good
